About

Our Founder and CEO

The Homeschool Counseling Network (HCN) operates under It’s Only Homeschooling, LLC (dba The Homeschooling Counseling Network). HCN was founded in January 2024 by Kimberly Bennett, a Licensed Professional Counselor (GA and TX), former middle school guidance counselor, and homeschool mom of one.

Before launching HCN, Kimberly founded It’s Only Homeschooling – a website devoted to providing advocacy, community, and resources for families homeschooling children with learning differences.

Our Mission

The Homeschool Counseling Network’s mission is to connect homeschooling families with free resources in the areas of academic advising, counseling, testing, therapy, and tutoring to inspire, inform, and improve lives.

We accomplish our mission through writing, creating digital content, hosting podcasts, public speaking engagements (podcast appearances, educational conferences, continuing education workshops), and planning and implementing our own online and in-person events.

Bridging the Gap – HCN’s Vision and Purpose

Finding professionals with the knowledge and understanding necessary to support homeschooling families through their practices can present a challenge. Here at The Homeschool Counseling Network, we are working hard to help bridge this gap.

By creating resource lists of homeschool family-friendly providers, we aim to help ease the burden of seeking support services.

It is our sincerest wish to offer comfort, encouragement, and support by connecting homeschooling families with providers who are equipped to help meet their counseling, education, and therapy needs.

FAQs

Are you a nonprofit organization?

While The Homeschool Counseling Network has yet to pursue official non-profit status, we operate as a free resource to the homeschooling community at large.

All operations of The Homeschooling Network’s website, blog, YouTube channel, social media pages, podcasts, digital content, and media are paid for through my family’s contributions. For now, The Homeschool Counseling Network operates under It’s Only Homeschooling, LLC (doing business as The Homeschool Counseling Network). As The Homeschool Counseling Network grows we may consider applying for official nonprofit status.

Are you a religious organization?

Our audience includes a variety of homeschooling families from diverse backgrounds. A large portion of our audience is Christian homeschooling families, but secular articles and blog/vlog posts are not excluded.

Founder/CEO Kimberly Bennett considers herself a child of God and primarily creates content from a Christian worldview.

Do you provide counseling services?

No, The Homeschooling Counseling Network is a resource list. No direct services are provided through HCN.

What sorts of resources do you provide?

On the HCN website, under the Parents Tab, there is the subcategory Find a Professional. Here you will find lists of service providers organized by areas of specialty in four main categories: Academic Advising, Counseling, Testing, Therapy, and Tutoring. Providers are categorized by state, populations served, and areas of expertise. Credentials and contact information are also included.

The HCN offers a variety of digital media including blog/vlog posts, a a podcast series, a monthly newsletter, free downloads, and a searchable free resource library covering a range of topics relevant to homeschooling and mental health. Content is created by our chief creator and CEO, Kimberly Bennett, and guest contributing professionals and experts.

The HCN recognizes the power and comfort of having a community. The HCN offers the HCN Resource Sharing Group, a public Facebook group where individuals, organizations, families, and professionals are welcome to openly share information and resources.

We also offer The HCN Support Group, a private Facebook group. This space allows families the opportunity to ask questions and gain encouragement and support from other families and professionals alike in a forum-style format.

Have the professionals listed on your website been vetted?

No, HCN does not personally vet each professional who joins our network.

Instead, we endeavor to provide the homeschooling community with information about the counseling process in general, red flags to look for when considering working with a provider, and how to research a licensed professional in your home state to verify credentials.

As part of our mission to help inspire, inform, and improve lives, we view it as our responsibility to teach families these skills. You can find this information under the Counseling 101 section.

While licensed mental health professionals are required to submit licensure information when requesting membership, it is the responsibility of the consumer to perform due diligence when seeking services from any provider.

Please know this list is by no means exhaustive. Just like us as human beings, this website is always learning and always growing.

How does the HCN model work?

By partnering and collaborating with service providers and professionals in the community, strategic partners, donors, sponsors, and advertisers who share our vision and believe in our mission, we endeavor to provide free quality resources to inspire, inform, and improve the lives of homeschooling families.
