Guest Vloggers

Would you like to contribute a guest vlog post for The Homeschool Counseling Network vlog?

Our Audience:

The Homeschool Counseling Network is a free resource website dedicated to connecting homeschool families with academic advising, counseling, testing, therapy, and tutoring resources.

Our target audience is homeschooling families of all kinds. A large portion of our audience is Christian homeschooling families, but secular vlog posts will not be excluded.

Share Your Expertise

Do you offer a course as part of your professional practice or business?

Let us help you promote your course by creating a brief video for us to share with our audience! Create a teaser or trailer video letting our audiences know how your particular course can benefit them while giving a shout-out to the HCN community. Offer viewers a bit of knowledge to inspire, inform, and improve their lives.

No course to offer? No problem! Offer to answer a question or two from our audience in your area of expertise in a video format.

Not a content creator? Again not a problem. You can still be a part of our community by listing your practice or business with us and joining our network. Membership is FREE!

FAQ’s:

What are the benefits of contributing digital content as a guest vlogger?

There are numerous benefits to sharing your professional expertise for not only you as a professional but also for the greater homeschooling community as a whole.

First, as a professional, you have a chance to give back to the community and help fulfill The Homeschool Counseling Network’s mission by imparting professional knowledge to inspire, inform, and improve the lives of others.

Second, you have an opportunity to gain exposure and advertising for your therapy practice or professional business. Both It’s Only Homeschooling and The Homeschool Counseling Network work with Virtual Assistant Nakisha Blain, owner of Savvy VA Social Media Management. Nakisha’s social media presence is 400+K strong (and growing) across multiple platforms including Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) centered around homeschooling children of all grades and age levels.

Third, you can hone your public speaking skills, build your confidence, and establish trust with your audience as a creator. Creating brief videos also helps lay the foundation for longer future projects such as workshops, seminars, and courses. By introducing yourself to the HCN community, you can allow them to get to know you a little better and foster an appreciation for the services you offer to help them along the way in their homeschooling journey.

While these are my top three reasons for inviting you to join our network as a participating member there are certainly other benefits as well.

How will my work be used?

Your content is yours and as such, you will be given full credit for creating it!

Allowing The Homeschool Counseling Network to feature your content on our website helps us in our mission to provide free counseling, education, and therapy resources to the homeschool community at large while simultaneously helping YOU as the creator grow your practice or business. Win-win.

Your submitted content will be featured on our website as the “guest vlog post of the week” and on The Homeschool Counseling Network’s YouTube channel as the featured video for the week. During your featured week, your content will be shared on social media by our Virtual Assistant Nakisha Blain, owner of Savvy VA, with her 400K+ followers.

After one calendar week, your digital content will be added to The Homeschool Counseling Network’s Free Resource Library; thus allowing your content to continue to garner views while providing an invaluable resource to the homeschooling community.

Is submitted content exclusive?

Original content is preferable. As a courtesy, we ask creators to allow The Homeschool Counseling Network exclusive use of the submitted content for two months from the time the post goes live on our site. Our goal is growth for both our site and yours while primarily supporting the homeschooling consumer community overall.

Where will my content be hosted?

Initially, your video or pre-recorded workshop will be featured on The Homeschool Counseling Network’s website as our “guest vlog of the week.” Additionally, your content will be shared on our social media, including our dedicated Facebook page, Facebook Group, Instagram, Pinterest, X (formerly known as Twitter), YouTube, and Linked In for a week. After one calendar week, your digital content will be added to The Homeschool Counseling Network’s Free Resource Library; thus allowing your content to continue to garner views while providing an invaluable resource to the homeschooling community.

Does content need to be live?

No. At this time, pre-recorded workshops are preferable. The Homeschooling Counseling Network does not currently have enough staff to moderate live workshops.

Help! I have never created digital content before!

Not to worry, we are here to help. If your submitted idea is chosen to be featured, we will send you some of our favorite “how-to” tips and tricks for creating content.

Anyone can create digital content! Your main tools are your professional knowledge, a relevant question or topic of interest, a webcam or cell phone, and a bit of confidence. Practice makes progress. The more you create, the easier it gets.

How long should the content be?

Research shows viewers’ attention spans tend to drop off after ten minutes. While ten minutes is not a lot of time to cover a single topic in depth, it is enough time to present your audience with an introduction to a broader topic that you can expand on in a future video series.

It is also important to note that some videos as long as twenty minutes can hold a viewer’s attention. It all depends on how you present the information.

What sort of topics are you looking for?

If it is in the realm of academic advising, assessment/testing, counseling/mental health, education, professional coaching, therapy, and/or tutoring, then you are on the right track!

Prefer more specific ideas? Here are a few:

How can I help my child learn his or her math facts?

What should one expect during a psychoeducational evaluation?

What are some red flags to look out for when searching for a therapist?

What are the signs of depression in children?

How can I help my child with test anxiety?

What is crossing mid-line and why is it important?

What is a sensory diet and how do I create one?

Still need more ideas? We’ve got you covered. Send us an email and subscribe to our newsletter and we will send you a FREE Content Planning Calendar with a list of ideas.

Truly, the list is endless.

Do I need to be a licensed professional (counselor, social worker, marriage and family therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist, etc.) to contribute vlog posts?

As both a homeschool mom and a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have garnered much wisdom from my extended parenting village, some of whom are in the helping field. Many are not.

The Homeschool Counseling Network welcomes VLOG posts from licensed clinicians, licensed therapists, professional educators, and professional coaches. Seasoned homeschooling content creators with courses are also welcomed.

However, we do require you to state whether or not you hold professional credentials (including your license information) if you are offering professional advice including but not limited to the areas of professional counseling, mental health, psychology, psychoeducational assessment, therapy, medicine, treatment, and/or social work.

Scope of practice is not only important, it is the law. It is paramount to not misrepresent yourself to not only the HCN community, but also the public at large.

Are you a nonprofit organization?

While The Homeschool Counseling Network has yet to pursue official non-profit status, we operate as a free resource to the homeschooling community at large (many of whom include single-income families).

All operations of The Homeschooling Network’s website, blog, YouTube channel, social media pages, podcasts, digital content, and media are paid for through my family’s contributions.

For now, The Homeschool Counseling Network operates under It’s Only Homeschooling, LLC (doing business as The Homeschool Counseling Network). As The Homeschool Counseling Network grows we may consider applying for official nonprofit status.

What is your mission?

The Homeschool Counseling Network’s mission is to connect homeschooling families with free resources in the areas of academic advising, counseling, testing, therapy, and tutoring to inspire, inform, and improve lives.

We accomplish our mission through writing, creating digital content, public speaking engagements (podcast appearances, educational conferences, continuing education workshops), and planning and implementing our own online and in-person events.

What are your formatting guidelines?

If your idea is selected to be featured on our vlog, we will email you formatting guidelines.

Can I submit more than one vlog idea?

Absolutely! However, we cannot guarantee that all ideas will be selected.
