Five Tips Homeschool Families Need to Consider When Finding a Mental Health Provider

I am excited to share Part 2 of our Mental Health Expert Panel series as part of the collaboration between The Homeschool Quest and The Homeschool Counseling Network.
The Homeschool Counseling Network is committed to mental health advocacy and awareness inherent to our mission to bridge the gap between the homeschooling and mental health communities.
In our first webinar, I was joined by author, public speaker, homeschool mom, former school psychologist, and consultant, Amy Bodkin, Ed.S., (Amy Bodkin Consulting) and homeschool mom, clinical psychologist, and ADHD expert, Sue Han, Ph.D. (Maple Psychological Services).
We discussed the benefits of early health screening, the screening process, why screening is important, what to expect, where to get screened, when to seek out screening, and who conducts the screenings. Finally, we also addressed some common questions and concerns associated with screenings.
The Importance of Due Diligence
In our second webinar of this Mental Health Expert Panel series, we focus on important tips for homeschooling families to consider when searching for a mental health provider. We explore the importance of performing due diligence as a consumer. Before entering into any therapeutic relationship with a treating professional, it is important to perform due diligence.
Essentially, due diligence means doing your homework.
It involves researching your potential provider’s name, verifying credentials (i.e., licenses, certification), and asking relevant questions before you set foot inside their actual or virtual office.
