Professional Vloggers, Want To Be a Part of Our Village?
Are you a licensed mental health professional (counselor, social worker, marriage and family therapist, psychologist, etc.), educator, therapist (OT, PT, or SLT), or professional coach who enjoys creating videos?
Perhaps you are a professional looking for a way to share your knowledge with the homeschooling community while also benefiting from free advertising for your practice or business.
Or maybe, just maybe, you are a seasoned homeschooling parent with a course to promote and a willingness to share your years of knowledge and wisdom with those following in your footsteps.
Then you should consider contributing a guest post to The HCN vlog!
Course Creators
Let us help you promote your course by creating a brief video for us to share with our audience! Create a teaser or trailer-style video letting our audiences know how your particular course can benefit them while giving a shout-out to the HCN community. Offer viewers a bit of knowledge to inspire, inform, and improve their lives.
Our Audience
The Homeschool Counseling Network is a free resource website dedicated to connecting homeschool families with academic advising, coaching, counseling, testing, therapy, treatment, and tutoring resources.
Our target audience is homeschooling families of all kinds. A large portion of our audience is Christian homeschooling families, but secular content will not be excluded.
What We Are Looking For:
Topics: If it is in the realm of academic advising, assessment/testing, counseling/mental health, education, professional coaching, therapy, and/or tutoring, then you are on the right track!
Prefer more specific ideas? Here are a few:
- How can I help my child learn his or her math facts?
- What should one expect during a psychoeducational evaluation?
- What are some red flags to look out for when searching for a therapist?
- What are the signs of depression in children?
- How can I help my child with test anxiety?
- What is crossing mid-line and why is it important?
- What is a sensory diet and how do I create one?
Still need more ideas? We’ve got you covered. Send us an email and subscribe to our newsletter and we will send you a FREE Content Planning Calendar with a list of ideas.
Truly, the list is endless.
Length: Research shows viewers’ attention spans tend to drop off after ten minutes. While ten minutes is not a lot of time to cover a single topic in depth, it is enough time to present your audience with an introduction to a broader topic that you can expand on in a future video series.
It is also important to note that some videos as long as twenty minutes can hold a viewer’s attention. It all depends on how you present the information.
What We Do Not Want:
- Professional posts that are created by professionals for professionals (no technical jargon please).
- Political opinions or views
- Lifestyle articles
- Meals plans and/or recipes
- Curriculum round-ups
Self-Promotion With a Servant’s Heart
Content created for and shared with the Homeschool Counseling Network Community is a win-win for professionals and laypersons alike.
HCN understands businesses need to market to thrive. Offering educational content at no cost or reduced cost enhances the homeschooling community at large and allows greater access to valuable information for the greater good. Including free content in an advertisement for one’s business or practice allows potential clients to put a face on a professional, a business, or a practice.
This act of service allows the HCN community to get to know you a little better while fostering an appreciation for the services you offer and increasing their understanding of how you can assist them on their homeschooling journey.
Most professionals adhere to a code of ethics that includes giving back to the community in some way. In counseling, our code of ethics includes advocacy and contributing to the public good (i.e., pro bono) (American Counseling Association). Other professional codes of ethics include comparable statements.
Knowledge is power and imparting it is a gift. Sharing our professional knowledge not only helps us grow as individuals and professionals but also enhances the community as a whole.
